Biography

Fredy Vallejos (Colombia) holds diplomas in percussion, musicology, and composition. His aesthetic preoccupation, characterized by the exploration of a sonorous universe that is multiple and heterogeneous, is based on musicological research works that have been formalized using computer-assisted composition tools and on the relationship of sound with other art forms.
His works have been presented in more than 15 countries and have participated in festivals such as AIMAAKO, Archipel, Charlesroi Danses, DOCK.fest, Escuchar-Sonidos Visuales, Encuentros Sonoros, Experimenta Sur, FICCI, IDFA, Milano Musica, MANIFESTE, and Visiones Sonoras, among others. Laureate of the Multimedia Prize (Milan), the André Jolivet composition competition (France), the Iberescena program, and a finalist in the young soloist competitions of the Valle del Cauca Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia.
Third place in the free competition and Best Arrangement Award in the Petronio Alvarez Afro-Colombian traditional music competition. He was a resident at the Cité International des Arts in Paris (2013-2014) and a recipient of scholarships from the city of Villeurbanne, the Simón Patiño Foundation, the Departmental Institute of Fine Arts (Cali, Colombia), and the City of Geneva (Switzerland).
He currently teaches in the Musical and Sound Arts program at the University of the Arts of Ecuador.
